The Preferred Communities Grant has allowed the CSIRP to address a serious short-coming in
the provision of culture adaptation services. Groups arriving currently through the Resettlement
Program are put through a series of hands-on classes which address issues such as personal
hygiene and dental care, nutrition, home care and how to buy and prepare a variety of foods found
in American grocery stores, bicycle safety and car seats.
Depending on the ethnicity and background of the arriving groups, additional classes focus on
such issues as apartment life, drivers license and insurance.
The grant has also paid for community education and outreach to other service providers in the
community of Twin Falls.
